A game teaches you more React Native than another todo app ever will. Snake forces you to handle gestures, manage state on every tick, and detect collisions, which are the exact skills real apps need. I build the classic game from scratch with TypeScript and Expo, swipe controls and all.
Beginner friendly, and every step is in the video.

- Move the snake on an X/Y grid by updating the head and trimming the tail
- Grow the snake and respawn the apple at random coordinates
- End the game when the head crosses the boundaries
- Structure the project with components, types, and utils folders
- Pause, restart, and keep the styling in one colors file
