Building an Android APK with React Native Expo | Tutorial EAS Build

Google Sign-In breaking in Expo Go is not a bug, it's a limit: Expo Go can't redirect users back to your app after authentication. The fix is a standalone APK built in the cloud with EAS Build, and it takes one config tweak and one command. I demo it with the chat app from my React Native course.

The video covers everything from eas login to testing the sign-in flow on an emulator.

What's inside

• Install the EAS CLI and log in to your Expo account
• Generate eas.json with eas build:configure
• Set buildType to apk so the build installs directly (AAB won't)
• Kick off the cloud build with eas build -p android --profile preview
• Drag the finished APK into an emulator or onto a device
• Confirm Google Sign-In redirects work in the standalone build
