Claude Code for Mobile Devs: The 5 Skills I Use on Every App

Beto, April 23, 2026 · 10,232 views

I cover five Claude Code skills that help mobile developers avoid common App Store mistakes and improve app performance and visibility. I share practical tools I use before and after launch to audit App Store Optimization (ASO), preflight test apps, generate app icons, and more.

If you build mobile apps with React Native or native iOS/Android, these skills will save you time and revenue. I also explain how to use Claude Code with Expo and native frameworks, plus tips on bidding for Apple Search ads and competitor research.

What's inside

  • The cost of App Store rejections and missed keywords
  • How to run an ASO audit with Claude Code using your app ID
  • Using App Store Preflight for comprehensive pre-submission checks
  • Generating app icons automatically with Claude Code and OpenAI
  • Building beautiful native UI with React Native and Expo tools

The cost of App Store rejections and missed keywords

I start by sharing how one App Store rejection cost me 9 days and missing a keyword likely cost months of revenue. These setbacks inspired me to develop Claude Code skills that catch issues early and optimize app listings.

App Store mistakes like repeated keywords or missing videos in your listing can hurt discoverability and downloads. I emphasize the importance of auditing your app listing regularly to avoid wasting valuable slots and revenue.

How to run an ASO audit with Claude Code using your app ID

The ASO audit skill runs a full health check on your App Store listing by passing your app ID to Claude Code. You can get your app ID from the App Store URL (the numbers after "id").

This skill gives you an overall ASO score and highlights improvements. For example, it flagged my subtitle for repeating the app name, wasting a high-value slot. It also researches competitors and suggests keyword replacements based on their stats.

The audit outputs a competitor comparison table and highest impact recommendations like adding a video or asking users for ratings. It’s a powerful way to stand out and optimize your listing based on real data.

Using App Store Preflight for comprehensive pre-submission checks

App Store Preflight is a heavy-duty skill that uses the App Store Connect CLI to pull metadata and run comprehensive pre-submission tests on your iOS or macOS app.

If you don’t want to install the CLI, you can run checks locally. The tool highlights warnings and issues like missing entitlements or API declarations that often cause rejections.

I share how learning about signing with Apple and Google saved me time and frustration. These preflight checks help you avoid common pitfalls and get your app approved faster.

Generating app icons automatically with Claude Code and OpenAI

I created an App Icon skill that uses the OpenAI API and Snap AI CLI to generate minimalistic app icons from a prompt. For example, I asked it to create an icon for "Tattoo Try On" and it produced a compatible .icon format for iOS and Android in about a minute.

You can customize the icon further with effects like liquid glass. The API key is stored locally for safety. This skill automates a tedious design step and ensures your icon meets platform requirements.

Building beautiful native UI with React Native and Expo tools

Most of my work is building beautiful UI with React Native. Since I worked at Expo, I trust their UI skills like Expo Router navigation, SF Symbols, and nice animations including liquid glass effects.

These tools help create native-feeling apps quickly. I also researched Swift and SwiftUI for native iOS development, showing that Claude Code skills work across frameworks.

Using Claude Code skills for native iOS (Swift/SwiftUI) and Android

Claude Code supports any framework, including native iOS and Android. For Android, I recommend Google's official Claude Code skills for navigation trees, migrating XML to Compose, enabling edge-to-edge UI, and more.

Even complex native implementations in React Native benefit from these skills. They help you implement advanced features and maintain your app efficiently.

Strategies for Apple Search ads and competitor keyword bidding

I’m exploring paid ads on Apple Search with a Claude Code skill that outputs keywords to bid high on. It recommends bidding on your brand keywords to prevent competitors from outranking you.

The skill also provides category long-tail keywords with lower bids and higher conversion rates, plus competitor keyword analysis. This data-driven approach helps steal users from competitors and maximize ad spend.
