Claude Code Just Killed Markdown (Use HTML Instead)
Beto, May 23, 2026 · 5,581 views
The Claude Code team stopped using Markdown for their own AI outputs. They generate HTML by default now, and once you see why, you won't want plain text answers either. In the video I show real examples: an ad spend report with color-coded profit and loss graphs, and Swift code where you click any line to get an explanation.
The catch: Claude defaults to Markdown unless you explicitly ask for HTML. I show you how to prompt for it.
What's inside
- Why the Claude Code team switched to HTML internally
- Turn a CSV of Apple Ads spend into an interactive profit and loss report
- Get clickable, annotated explanations of unfamiliar Swift code
- Refine specific sections with CSS selectors and chat pins
- Prototype UI interactions in HTML, then convert to React or Swift
- The tradeoff: HTML costs more tokens but saves follow-up prompts
