What's New in Expo SDK 46 + FlashList and Skia

Skia used to require painful native setup to run in React Native. With Expo SDK 46, it just works, and that alone makes this release worth your attention. You also get React 18, Shopify's FlashList for fast lists, and the new flow that kills the global install. I demo all of it in the video with a working example.
Heads up: this is also the last SDK supporting Expo Classic Build, so it's time to plan your move to EAS.
What's inside
- Start projects with , no global Expo install
- React 18 and React Native 0.69 by default, Suspense included
- High-performance 2D graphics with Skia inside Expo
- The Reanimated Babel config Skia needs to work
- Replace FlatList with FlashList for faster long lists
- What the Classic Build deprecation means for your projects
