Master React Native Charts | Tutorial for Dynamic Data Visualization

Beto, June 27, 2024 · 21,875 views

A chart is only impressive when it runs on real data. So instead of hard-coded arrays, I wire react-native-gifted-charts to a SQLite database with 1,000 mock transactions and build a weekly income and expense chart that animates as you move through the weeks. Every step is in the video.

If you're building anything that tracks money or time-series data, this is the setup I'd use.

What's inside

  • Generating 1,000 rows of realistic test data with Mockaroo
  • Inspecting the SQLite database with TablePlus
  • Installing gifted-charts with expo-linear-gradient and react-native-svg
  • A reusable SummaryChart component fed by SQL queries
  • Conditional bar colors and gradients based on values
  • Smooth animations when switching between income and expenses
